UPDATE...

ATTENTION!!! HERE IS A LIST OF BONE MARROW DRIVES GOING ON THIS WEEKEND FOR ANDREW AND OTHER'S NEED OF A LIVE SAVING TRANSPLANT!


There will be four bone marrow drives this week at various locations in the east coast.  Here is a list of them.


This particular drive is being held at Open Door Presbyterian Church in the Northern Virginia area, organized by my cousin Pam Lippincott.  If you are in the area, PLEASE GET TESTED!!!!

UPDATE: Andrew has been home only one night for the past 26 nights. Andrew has been fever free for the past 48 hours and his counts are rising as we speak. The major hurdle Andrew needs to get over in order to get home is getting off the i.v. pain meds for his stomach pain. Yep, the same pain that we have been dealing with the past 3 years, but he doesn't have pancreatitis. That is why the g.i. doctors, which were called in today, want to check his abdomen via ct scan and a special mri called a mrcp.
Andrew had a chest x-ray done yesterday and it revealed a possibility of a fungal pneumonia, so a ct. scan of his lungs will be done tomorrow the same time as the ct scan for the stomach.
Andrew's appetite is nominal and he seems to be doing alright considering that he's been in the hospital for over 3 weeks.

I ask that you lift Andrew up for a few prayer requests:

*** Andrew will be having his "big" bone marrow biopsy this Thursday, to see if his cancer is in remission. PRAY FOR REMISSION AND CONTINUED HEALTH!
If he is in remission, he will be able to get a transplant, but the issue becomes
find a donor match IMMEDIATELY!
If Andrew still has cancer in his body, he will have to under go more chemotherapy, which will be more intense than the first round, which was strong to begin with.

***Pray not only for physical strength, but for mental strength as well. I know that he gets discouraged at times because he has been stuck in the hospital so long.

***Please pray for Jennifer and myself, as we are severely burnt out.

I know that many of you who attend Calvary were notified of an URGENT PRAYER REQUEST, that was rather vague, asked for immediate prayer and that asked for privacy until further notice.  I appreciate the privacy you have given to me and my family.  When the time is right, we will let you know the specifics.  In the mean time, pray for the aforementioned requests.

    Sue Monk Kidd wrote the following while ministering to a friend fighting cancer. "I reached for my Bible and found Exodus 16:4, remembering how day by day God sent nourishment from heaven while his people wandered in the wilderness. There was always just enough for the day. ...It was to remind us both...when we walk in difficult places, God sends the strength and nourishment to face what comes our way, not all at once, but day to day."

  4. Dear Joe, Jenn and Andrew,

    On behalf of everyone on Thaakat foundation, I just wanted to let you know we're on your team! We have been trying to see where and how we may help in your journey. We are trying to spread Andrew's story as far as word of mouth, our twitter accounts and our Facebook posts will go. We are telling our friends to tell their friends because we can't wait to find Andrew's match. We're going to be here to help you guys, whenever you need support just look our way. We are keeping you guys in our thoughts and prayers. We have faith Andrew WILL find a match and go on to spend his life in whichever way he wishes. We're hopeful to see where life takes him, we want to see where he may go to college, what he will become when he grows up, who he will marry! Just the thought of the rest of his life makes me so motivated to get his health back to a 100%! Can't wait till he's better than ever. We're on your team, just reach out whenever you need us. Joe and Jenn - you're doing such an amazing job, we hope that God will give you courage to keep going and enough faith to never stop.

  5. I learned about your blog and Andrew's illness via Kimberly and Peter Cho's blog, which I have been following. As a result of hearing about Andrew's situation from their blog, I sent away for a bone marrow registration kit and returned it; also hope to organize a drive at our church as well in the near future. Even though I do not know you personally (at least, I don't think we've met, although we do have many mutual friends), I wanted you to know that I am praying for Andrew and for you both, for supernatural strength in the midst of this battle, for the peace that passes understanding in the midst of the unknown, for unshakable faith that all things work according to God's purposes and for an deep understanding of his love and care for you all. Thank you all for your example and witness of courage, as well as for sharing your story with us all. With hopes that our paths will cross in person one day--Blessings, Helen Lee
